After a catastrophic event has rattled humanity, you awaken from cryosleep in Mars Site-113, a massive research and containment installation constructed by a shadowy proto-government organization known as "The SCP Foundation" that houses the most dangerous creatures and objects ever discovered. You find the facility has been nearly completely abandoned, and with no way to know how these events happened during your cryostasis, you set out to try to piece together what went so horribly wrong.
As you begin your journey through Site-113, you will encounter many creatures and objects that were sent here from Earth to be researched and contained away from the prying eyes of humanity. Since the facility has long been abandoned, these creatures have since escaped and made many sections of the facility their homes and now roam freely.
Many creatures kept in the facility are incredibly hostile and powerful, and as you continue deeper through the infested research zones, you will discover there is something in the very heart of this facility that may hold a way to undo the catastrophic events that have been set in motion.
In SCP: Fragmented Minds, you will choose to fight, evade or even help the extremely powerful and anomalous specimens that were being contained and experimented on in a large nearly-abandoned Martian facility. Each zone in the facility will present a new threat, and you will use a wide array of combat mechanics, special weapons, and equipment to make it through each zone -- alive. Each encounter is designed to give players different ways of handling the situation through either stealth or combat but still be immersed in the visceral horror of coming face to face with uniquely terrifying and powerful enemies.
As you explore the facility, you will discover new weapons, objects, characters, and equipment that will help you prepare for the next zone as you make your way deeper into the heart of the facility.
Every interaction with a character has the potential to alter the story in some capacity, so it's up to you to pick and choose who or what to interact with as even the seemingly smallest interaction can have massive consequences.
In SCP: Fragmented Minds, bullets are a rare commodity, and you'll mainly be up-close and personal with enemies using your shield and a diverse set of upgradeable melee weapons. These weapons range from common tools like axes to improvised electric shock axels.
However, ranged and close-quarter weapons exist around the facility and can help turn the battle whenever you find them. Current ranged weapons include a special pistol and experimental railgun, with other types of energy weapons planned for further in development.
During close encounters, you can parry and block enemy attacks using your shield, which can stun enemies and allow a window of opportunity to attack. However, caution must be used since simply trying to hold your shield constantly can allow enemies to break your block and stun you, which can often be fatal.
The Flamethrower is an extremely powerful close-range weapon that'll be massively useful for dealing with later enemies in the game who have a resistance to conventional ammunition and bullets, as well as a tool used to clear obstructions.
Scavenged and craftable equipment are flexible and help complement your weapons while in battle. Whether it be placing down an explosive trip mine in the path of a roaming creature, or using Cryogrenades to completely freeze a group of enemies to make an escape, you will be able to use the various equipment pieces to complement nearly any playstyle.
The combat system has taken much inspiration from Prey (2017) and Dead Space, which has led to a dynamic system that doesn't force encounters with enemies and instead allows you to pick and choose when stealth or assault might be a good option, while also giving a chance to utilize your equipment to try and escape if things get too heated.
Those who wish to play with friends can jump into the planned multiplayer, which will feature a traditional deathmatch-style game mode and the special Hunt game mode. In The Hunt, players will take control of either a wild SCP creature or an MTF soldier and will go head to head in an objective-based horror game mode with the ultimate goal of either containing the creatures with a special containment field generator or wiping the soldiers' reinforcements out. Locations in The Hunt will not be restricted to Site-113, and will instead be in the natural habitat of where the SCP creature instance would be found in nature on Earth.
This game mode will take time to develop, and we want to make sure we do it right without compromising the single-player, so the development of this mode will begin after the single-player is in a solid enough state for an Early Access release to ensure neither experience is watered-down.
The heart and soul of an SCP game is the SCPs, and we have taken great care to ensure that the game features high-quality creatures and animations that make the creatures and objects look and feel alive within the world. Some of the included creatures are well-known and loved in the SCP world, and some are fresh faces never seen in a game before. Seasoned fans of SCP will have something new to discover, and those who are completely new to the world of SCP or action-horror will find a smooth and cohesive introduction to the uniquely terrifying creatures and story.
Currently, we have 11 fully modeled creatures and plan to add well over 15 additional creatures and several anomalous objects to the mainline story as development progresses, with a couple of unique creatures being specially developed for the planned multiplayer.
Throughout what remains of Site-113, you will come across various survivors that have cobbled together other survivors over the months to form Survivor Camps. These camps will be a critical part of the game's narrative, and you will be able to trade in these camps, as well as interact with special figures in each camp, known as Camp Leaders. You'll find these individuals know much more than you about certain events in the facility, and can provide special items or knowledge to you if you aid them in an optional side objective they have for you. Each Leader will be fully voiced and will have their own personality, goals, and desires for the facility and will head one of the three camps in the facility.

Character interactions won't stop with just human survivors of the facility, and you'll be able to find certain entities around the facility that you can interact with in the same manner as the Camp Leaders to help them in their own personal side objectives in exchange for special information or items that will help you stay alive.
One of the planned fully voiced characters is known as SCP-049, who will be a neutral entity that you can choose to interact with to progress the story and obtain a special reward.
Throughout the facility, you will come across various scrap resources that can be used to craft specialized weapons utilizing scavenged crafting blueprints.
The crafting system will also allow you to replenish your ammo, equipment, and health and even create special weapons by recycling and converting scrap and other raw materials that are found throughout the facility.
The movement system prioritizes freedom in movement and allows for players to use specialized grapple points located in various spots around the map to help them get to higher areas and escape from threats. This, combined with a special mantling system, allows players to use the environment to their advantage when navigating and also find alternative ways around enemies, and reach many secrets located within the world.
Through our partnership with ID@Xbox, we're able to bring SCP: Fragmented Minds to next-gen Xbox consoles as well as to PC through Steam. Porting can be an extensive process, so release may be staggered for the console release, but our goal is to ensure backers receive their copy as soon as it is available on their chosen platform, rather than waiting for it to be on all of them.
We have an experienced team working on SCP: Fragmented Minds. The lead programmer, Cody Nolan, has worked on several projects in Unity and Unreal Engine 4/5. The lead environment and designer, James Aguirre, has worked for several small indie studios, as well as for AAA studios such as Sledgehammer Games and is responsible for most of the environment and 3D props you'll see throughout SCP: Fragmented Minds. Austin Harris is helping with PR/ marketing and managing the general day-to-day operations behind the scenes, and has worked for Riot Games and Keyword Studios on large titles such as League of Legends and Valorant. Lastly, Nathan Moody is our sound designer and contributing composer for in-game music, who has worked in interactive media for two decades, has released over 15 albums, and is an interactive audio designer at Skywalker Sound. With this team, and the hiring of various contractors for texturing, creature design and prop modeling using the proceeds from this campaign, you can be sure we have the experience needed to make SCP: Fragmented Minds a reality!
Larger scale projects can have complex management, and we firmly believe it's fair for you to know where the money that's been pledged will go.
